Adriana talked about her current situation and where she aspires to be in three months. She desires to relax outside of work without needing to check her work phone constantly and have that peace of mind.

I asked: “Can you describe what relaxation and peace of mind look like for you? Since it is different for everyone.”

Adriana said, “I will be less tired after work. I can finally read some of those “Shelf”- help (Self helps sitting on a shelf without being read) books I bought some time ago. Maybe even start going to the gym when I don’t work overtime.”

“Let’s start working on that immediately! I have made a personalized guided meditation that I want you to listen to every day before going to bed for the next three weeks.”

She looked at me with disbelief and said: “Mindy, I don’t have time to invest in this! I’m too busy at work; I am at home and feel like doing nothing! I am too tired and don’t have the energy to do anything. You used to work in financial services, so you know what I am talking about, right? Time is money, Mindy.”

After a long pause, I said: “Adriana, are you committed or just interested in achieving this goal?”

She looked at me all confused and said, “What is the difference?”

“Well, if you are committed, you will do anything in your power to achieve that goal. If you are just interested, you will only act when you feel like it or when your circumstance, situation, or people around you allow you to do so. When you commit, you will allow nothing to get in your way of achieving that goal!”

“Where do you want it to be in three months, have that peace of mind? Or do you want everything to be the same? ”
Two days after our conversation, Adriana messaged me: “You made me think a bit more about where I want to be in 3 months. So, I thought, let’s give it a try. The first time I listened to it was last night. And I must admit. I slept like a log! I am committed now!”
